People of the North - Welcome to Vik
Experience the Fjord Village of Vik with Gamalost, Hopperstad Stave Church, and Vik Adventure
Walk in the footsteps of People of the North and visit Tine Ostebar, located in the heart of Vik, where Gamalost, old cheese is on the menu. This traditional cheese dates back to Viking times and has a rich, sharp flavor.
After tasting Gamalost, take a short walk—about 15 minutes—from Vik center to Hopperstad Stave Church, beautifully situated in the landscape. Believed to be one of Norway’s oldest stave churches, it dates back to around 1130. Sylvringen offers guided tours that include the church, Hove Stone Church, and Tine Ostebar.
RIB Tour on the Fjord
Arne and Stig joined Vik Adventure on a guided RIB tour from Vik to Finnafjord and Finnabotnen. Finnafjorden is the smallest of Sognefjord’s branches, but perhaps the most unique. Along its shores lies Finden Farm, the birthplace of cheese producer Synnøve Finden, as well as the neighboring farm, Finnabotn.
