Where can you get married by the Sognefjord?

Wherever you want – as long as the bride and groom, a authorised solemnizer and two witnesses are physically present, they can hold the wedding exactly where you want.

The important thing to note is that in the summer it is very popular to get married, so if you want to have dinner and the party at a hotel, you must book now.

Urnes Stave Church

Yes, you can get married in the Stave Churches along the Sognefjord. In Norway's oldest and most richly decorated, UNESCO Urnes Stave Church you can get married in magnificent nature. The best time to get married there is in May or September, and the last weekend they are open is the first weekend in October. It costs 7000 NOK to get married in the UNESCO Urnes Stave Church. Hopperstad Stave Church

Travel to Vik where you can get married in Hopperstad Stave Church or in Hove Stone Church. Hopperstad is beautifully situated on a hill in the lush agricultural landscape of Vik in Sogn. It costs 7000 NOK to get married there. If you come from Vik or live in Vik, there is a different price. How do I book the church? Yes, send an email to hopperstad@stavechurch.com

Borgund Stave Church

Borgund Stave Church is a unique example of impressive medieval architecture. Borgund is the best preserved of all the churches. Can you get married there? Yes, but only if you come from Borgund or live in Borgund. Those who are not from Borgund cannot unfortunately get married in the Stave Church.

Kaupanger Stave Church

The church architecture is also quite different from other stave churches. There are very few carvings on walls, posts and other parts of the interior. Kaupanger Stave Church is beautifully located close to the fjord in Kaupanger. Can you get married there? Yes, you can so book your date today at post.sogndal@kyrkja.no The price for getting married in Kaupanger Stave Church is 4000 NOK.
