Welcome to Vik

The Fjord Village Vik is surrounded by high mountains and beautiful nature. With small, colorful houses close together on Vikøyri, this is something you must experience when you visit Vik.

The municipality of Vik is situated on the southern shores of the Sognefjord, one of the longest fjords in the world. Coming from Voss, Bergen or Oslo you reach Vik via the road RV13 over the mountain area Vikafjellet. Coming from the south, the ferry takes you from Dragsvik or Hella to Vangsnes. In addition, the express boat to and from Bergen stops in Vik, during the summer season two times a day.

Every year in June the Old Cheese Festival is held in Vik where you can taste the cheese, the juice and have a talk to the locals. 

How to get to Vik

Vik and Vikøyri are located on the south side of the Sognefjord, and are relatively easily accessible from large Norwegian cities such as Oslo and Bergen.

The nearest international airports are Bergen Airport Flesland and Oslo Gardermoen Airport. Sogndal Airport Haukåsen is the nearest local airport, about 90 minutes by car from Vik.

Expressboat from Bergen

The expressboat with Norled to and from Bergen runs daily all year round. The express boat route also connects Vik to several of the other fjord villages along the Sognefjord along the sea route.

Vikafjellet Mountain

You can also take the Bergen Railway and the train to Voss, then drive up Vikafjellet to Vik. The road over Vikafjellet also connects Vik with Oslo, Bergen Hardanger and inner Sogn on the south side of the Sognefjord.

You can also make round trips with Vik as your starting point to almost the entire Sognefjord.
