During the Winter, the heavy snowfall covers the mountains in the Sognefjord with an enormous amount of snow. Many places are up to ten meters or more deep. During the Spring and Summer, the temperature rises and melts most of the snow away. This process creates some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. The Norwegian name for waterfalls is Foss.
