How to get to Jostedal

Jostedalen is in Luster Municipality, which is a drive of approx. 1 hour from Sogndal. From Sogndal, drive road 5 via Hafslo and to Gaupne, and turn off at the bridge that signs towards Jostedalen and Nigardsbreen Glacier. From Gaupne it is a 30-minute drive inland to Jostedalen and Breheimsenteret.

The Glacier Bus

In summer from approx. 19th June to 19th August, there is a daily glacier bus from Sogndal that drives via Solvorn, Hafslo, Gaupne and stops at Breheimsentert and the car park at Nigardsbreen Glacier. Check timetables here.

The Glacier Boat

During summer you can follow the Glacier boat from parking place at Nigardsbreen to the front of the Glacier. Find more information here.  

The nearest airport is Sogndal Lufthamn, Haukåsen, which is in Kaupanger. Check flight times here.

Expressboat to the Sognefjord

Every day throughout the year, the express boat from Bergen goes into the Sognefjord with a final stop in Sogndal, but from April to October it stops at Leikanger with a bus further inland to Sogndal and the boat goes on to Flåm. Check Norled's timetables here.
